At events like Fruit Logistica, Unibán proudly reaffirms its dedication to the European market.

According to Manuel Laborde Barriga, CEO of Unibán, annually, Unibán exports 32.2 million boxes of bananas worldwide, with some 91% destined for Europe and 27.7% for Germany (totaling 25.2%). Unibán's subsidiary, TMA in Belgium, takes the responsibility for importation and brand marketing across European territories.

Under the "Communities and People" pillar, Unibán endeavors to uplift the local environment and enhance the quality of life within the region. Unibán planted over 120,000 trees over the past five years, while actively promoting waste reduction through circular economy models. Moreover, the company remains dedicated to safeguarding local water reservoirs, further underlining its holistic approach to sustainable practices.

Organic and ethically sourced bananas

Unibán takes pride in its flagship product, the Colombian banana, sourced from the lush Gulf of Urabá. Additionally, Unibán offers plantains, exotic plantains, and banana-cassava snacks under the esteemed Turbana brand.

Expanding its offerings, Unibán introduced organic bananas to its portfolio in 2011. Sourced from farms in Magdalena, these organic delights find their way to discerning markets in Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. With 238 hectares dedicated to organic banana cultivation, Unibán proudly carries the European Union's organic certification and holds Fair Trade certification, reinforcing its commitment to ethical sourcing practices.
