World apple production decreases 5.3% year-on-year

World apple production in 2022 totaled 78.8 million tons, decreasing 5.3% year-on-year, says iQonsulting in its Yearbook 2022: International Apple Market.
 
Apple production in China, the main producer of this fruit worldwide, decreased 10.8% in 2022. This country showed a decrease in its participation, going from 55% (2017) to 52% during 2022.
 
World exports were 6,852,851 tons, which represents a negative variation of 4.2% year after year.
 
In the 2023 season, the stock in the northern hemisphere would be lower due to weather problems that have arisen, leaving more sales space for the southern hemisphere. In addition, the decrease in freight costs will help improve the allocation of shipping space, positively affecting summer-autumn fruit exports with lower rates.
