In Peru, the mandarin season started in April and will culminate in September.

Peruvian exports of this fruit until July 18 reached 81,000 tons, registering an increase of 14% compared to the 71,000 tons exported in the same period of the 2020 campaign.

Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, the president of the Informa@cción consultancy, reported that shipments of early mandarin varieties have already ended, Okitzu and Owari being the most exported varieties, and now it’s turn for mid-season varieties (Clementines) and late varieties (W. Murcott, Tango).

In April, there were 5,182,639 kilos dispatched, in May 13,219,884 kilos, in June 32,770,240 kilos, in July (until the 18th) 30,101,940 kilos.

The price of the Peruvian mandarin in the international market is between $1.07 and $1.08 per kilogram, being higher than that registered in the last 2 years (2019 and 2020).

According to Cillóniz, 2020 was the record year for Peruvian mandarin exports and this year it will be higher.

The main destinations for these supplies are the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, Russia, Japan, and China, among others.
