In India, a growing demand for high quality fruits combined with lower import duties for Chilean products is allowing Chilean exports to grow rapidly.

Recently India has announced higher tariffs on apples from the United States which were the main source of imports. But in the India-Chile Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), tariff cuts are planned. This has increased shipments from Chile and will further strengthen them.
In the 2016-17 season, India imported from Chile $49.26 million ($24.88 million in apples, $16.84 million in nuts, $7.54 million in kiwifruit). In the 2017-18 season the value of shipments reached $52 million.
"India's share of our exports continues to grow. Currently, Asia accounts for about 20% of our exports, with India ranking second behind China, "said Charif Christian Carvajal, Chilean Fruit Exporters Association's Asia Marketing Director.
