Cherry harvest in New Zealand used to start from late December to early February and varies from year to year depending on weather conditions. Mr. Reece van der Velden, sales and marketing manager at New Zealand Cherry Corporation exclusively shares with us the latest results of new cherry harvest.

“This is certainly a fast paced season! The perfect growing conditions, dry, and heaps of sunshine – exactly what Cherries love,” - explains Reece. “Our quality this season is exceptional, extremely firm – our Staccato are like bullets! Over 450+ firmtech this is quality we haven’t seen in 10 years. Such result will be a grade standard higher than anything previously found in the international markets for Cherries.”

Based on provided analysis of current season Reece reckons, that New Zealand Cherry Corporation will be the last orchard in New Zealand still airfreighting into China in time for CNY. New Zealand Cherry Corp grows big range of cherry varieties as Sonnet, Stella, Romance, Kordia, Lapins, Skeena, Sweetheart, Staccato which are exported to 12 countries around the world. Right at this moment company is in the process of shipping via container with an 18 day transit time, having multiple containers on their way and soon another 5 on the water.

Reece adds: “Such approach in transport and logistics ensures continuity of extremely high quality Cherries into the markets and direct to consumers.”
