The first half of 2017 was very satisfactory for Brazilian fruit exports, which rose by 9.9% compared with the same period in 2016.

Brazilian fruit exports totaled US $ 353 million in the first six months of this year (US $ 321 million in 2016), according to the Ministry of Interior's data, Comércio Exterior e Serviços. Exports are expected to follow this upward trend in the second half of the year, a period in which there has been an increase in overseas sales.

This performance in the first half comes from the strong growth of various products, such as fresh melons (+ 20.6%), papayas (+ 6.9%), fresh guavas, mangoes and mangosteens (+ 19.1% %), Apples (+ 101%).

The sector recognizes having increased its presence in the traditional markets (Europe) but also having to work to look for new markets. Thus, Japan, South Korea and Russia have considerably increased their demands.
