New collective mark "Avocados and Mangoes of Malaga and Granada"

The Association of Sub-tropical Fruit Producers has launched the new collective brand 'Aguacates y Mangos de Málaga y Granada' to promote the image and quality of these products.

Avocados and mangoes already have a broad representation in 'Sabor a Málaga' (Flavor Malaga) which features products from the Malaga region, the subtropical fruit sector representing 5% of the member companies. This new brand aims to help develop production and quality and enable better identification in competitive markets.
As for avocados the region of Malaga counts 7,000 hectares and the region of Granada 3,000 hectares. For mangoes, the region of Malaga counts 3,000 hectares and the region of Granada 1,500 hectares. The forecast for the 2016/17 season is 63,000 tons of avocado and more than 20,000 tons of mango. About 75% of the production is exported mainly to European countries, such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom, but also outside Europe (USA, Canada, Brazil).
