The Belgian producers still have in stock about 1,6 million tons of potatoes, what is 200.000 tons more than last year, according to a survey of the Belgische Interprovinciaal Proefcentrum voor of Aardappelteelt ( PCA).
The PCA established its study after a survey with the agricultures in all the country. It show that the current stock is more raised of 100.000 tons regarding to 2 years ago, and more raised by 200.000 tons regarding to the average of the last 5 years.
On the 1,6 million tons of potatoes in stock, 700.000 tons are already sold by contract, that is 42 %. This rate is encouraging and represents 140.000 tons more than the average of the last 5 years.
